Lacrosse
Lacrosse was first played by Aboriginal Canadians and
is known as Canada's true national game. This fast paced
game is quickly becoming a popular spectator sport.
The local team, the Victoria Shamrocks won the national
championship in 1999. They play at the Memorial Arena
in the Western Lacrosse Association League. The season
runs from Early Spring until Late Summer. Games are
usually played on Wednesday and Friday nights.Let our

for you. » Hockey Ice Hockey is Canada's other
national game. The popularity of hockey grows each year.
The Victoria Salsa play at Memorial Arena in the BC
Junior Hockey League. Their season runs from Early Fall
until Late Spring. Game nights vary so we will have
to check for you to see if a game is scheduled during
your visit to Victoria. If you would like to attend
a game, let us know and we will make the necessary arrangements.
» Cricket
It is to be expected that in a city which has such a
strong British tradition that the game of cricket would
be played here. In fact, during the summer months, it
is hard not to see a game of cricket being played at
one of the cricket pitches in town. There are two pitches,
one in Beacon Hill Park, and the other one is located
in Oak Bay at Windsor Park. » Soccer
While not an extremely popular spectator sport in Canada,
many people play soccer in the area. If you are interested
in catching a match, the University of Victoria UVIC
Vikes play in the UVIC stadium starting in the early
fall until late spring.
» Rugby
Several Rugby clubs exist in the Victoria area. They
play throughout the city from early fall until late
spring. The University of Victoria also has a team which
plays at the UVIC stadium.
» Basketball
Competitive basketball may be seen at the University
of Victoria. The Vikes play in the McKinnon Gym in the
CIAU league. The season runs from late fall until late
spring, games are usually played on Friday or Saturday

Olde Town
The B.C. Junior Men's Football League plays at Royal
Athletic Park. The Victoria Rebels season lasts from
late spring until late summer.
» Auto Racing
For ear splitting excitement, nothing beats a night
at the races. Stock cars, hit-to-pass, and drag racing
are all available at the Western Speedway . The race
season runs from early spring until late fall. Races
are usually on Saturday nights.
